From anthony at sageartsstudio.com Fri Jul 9 15:45:54 2004 From: anthony at sageartsstudio.com (Anthony Sell) Date: Sat Jul 10 03:59:38 2004 Subject: [Newsletter] Sage Arts Unlimited - July Newsletter Message-ID: <5.1.0.14.0.20040709174406.02b215a0@sageartsstudio.com> ____________Sage Arts Unlimited Newsletter - July 2004______________ In this Issue: - WEKAF World Tournament Results - Lots of Seminars & Training Opportunities! - Capoeira Events - New Instructors - New Class Additions - Capoeira CDs Now Available Don?t simply wait to respond to opportunity, work to create it. There was once a golfer who innovated to become the first to actively incorporate weightlifting into his training regime. His games were skillful, but were often chalked up to luck by his critics. When interviewed one day, he was asked if he was good or just lucky. His reply was ?Sure I?m lucky, and the more I practice, the luckier I get.? We create our luck, through hard work, attentiveness to opportunity, and through our response to present conditions. A positive outlook can do wonders for improving one?s opportunity. One of the most important things we learn in Martial Arts is that by improving ourselves through a commitment to training, we indirectly affect others in our life in positive ways. When things are bad, money is tight, stress is high, a negative outlook can draw into our lives forces that are destructive and detrimental. By staying positive, and working on daily progress, we improve our odds and attract creative energy into our lives. If you?ve been thinking about it lately, today is a great day to start training. Check out our website, give us a call, or stop in to see some classes, you won?t regret it! Congratulations Congratulations to Regi Bron for taking 2nd place in Forms and 4th place in Men?s Single Stickfighting in the 8th WEKAF World Stickfighting Championships held in Cebu City, Philippines this June. Congratulations also goes out to those students who made it through our Thai Boxing Wednesday Workshops. These were some of the largest kickboxing classes we?ve had, and everyone who participated got a chance to challenge themselves and get a taste of what is in store for them at this year?s Wisconsin Martial Arts Camp. Aug-5-2004 In-school Chess Night - 6:30-8:30 PM Our last chess night was a blast, some students stayed until nearly 11:30 PM, playing for hours. This was an exciting way to get to know the other students and exercise certain cognitive skills that are common in both chess and the Martial Arts. One of the most important aspects of a Martial Artist is the ability to think tactically, strategically, and to anticipate the intention of their opponent. For this reason, I have made it a requirement that every student learn how to play the game of chess, which has been used to educate military minds, warriors and leaders for centuries. Join us for an evening of intellectual stimulation. For beginners, the rules of the game will be discussed and coached by Jason Lippert (an avid and rated chess player), our resident Chess Coach, and skill will be developed through practice games with more experienced students. The cost is $5 for the evening and will include refreshments for those participating. Bring your favorite chess set and a buddy - See you there!
