Congratulations

Several recent events have brought some announcements and
congratulations to our students. A few of our students traveled to
Atlanta, GA earlier this month to attend their first Batizado in Capoeira
Regional, training for the weekend with Mestre Fran and several other
Mestres from the Grupo Maculele. Several students were awarded rank
in that system in recognition of their hard work and skill.
Mohammad, Nico, Nadia, and Sawyer were each awarded their first cord,
Jeremy and Craig were awarded their second cord, Harrison was awarded his
fourth cord. Great Job!

At the Brazilian Jiujitsu Seminar with Pedro Sauer on the same weekend,
some of our students were also promoted in that system. Nick, Paul
and Terry were each awarded one stripe, Mr. Sell was awarded two stripes,
and Jason was promoted to Blue Belt.

Letha Yoga - Dhanda Yoga Seminar with Dr. Maung Gyi
May 1 & 2, 2004

Dr. Gyi is one of the most sought after Martial Arts experts in the
world today. Noted for his systematic teaching style, extensive Martial
Arts and Healing knowledge and explosive skill, Dr. Gyi is a remarkable
instructor.

Letha Yoga: This popular partner-based system of Yoga was developed by
the Hpyu monks in ancient Northern Burma, and functions as an effective
natural method for maintaining a healthy body. Composed of postures,
joint manipulations and massage technique, the system helps to remove
toxins, improve flexibility and increase blood flow, allowing the body to
recuperate from hard physical training. It is a great experience that
leaves everyone feeling re-energized. If natural healing is an interest,
you will definitely want to attend. Participants need only to come
freshly showered with loose-fitting clean clothing, our training will be
barefoot with clean socks, a notebook is recommended, pillow and blanket
are optional. Attendees of previous seminars should bring their
stones.

Dhanda Yoga: A system of solo and partner-based practice, this form of
Yoga involves the use of a staff to assist proper alignment and posture.
Students will learn of the three different forms of Dhanda Yoga as well
as the history and origin of this practice.

Special Thanks

I would like to thank those of you who supported our African Martial
Arts seminar. Though we had a low turnout, the material was very
insightful and we will definitely be bringing Master Kilindi Iyi back in
the future. Without your continued support, events such as these
are simply not possible.
