By way of a network of Chapters, Support Groups, and many dedicated volunteers, the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia is a strong voice for those affected by schizophrenia and psychosis, and is a resource for all Nova Scotians seeking information about these brain disorders.

Activities of the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia include:

· Support groups and education for families and care providers;

· Distributing information relating to schizophrenia and psychosis;

· Recovery-oriented programs for those living with schizophrenia and psychosis;

· Presentations to schools and community groups;

· Public awareness and education initiatives such as fundraising events, conferences, our Information Matters newsletter & our weblog; and

· Advocacy and information sharing with government. 

Each Chapter works on the same goals and objectives, and under the same principles as the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia, and Chapter members receive information and support from the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia.

Members of the board of directors of each Chapter are voting members of the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia, and the board of directors of the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia is made up of representatives from various regions of the province.  One member of the board of directors of the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia serves as a director of the Schizophrenia Society of Canada.
